Laurence E. Stein is of counsel in the firm's Reston office. Mr. Stein provides legal counseling on a wide range of intellectual property matters, including patent and trademark infringement and validity opinions, drafting and prosecuting applications for patent and trademark, counseling on intellectual property strategy, and drafting licenses and joint venture agreements relating to patent, trade secret, trademark, right of publicity, trade dress and copyright.

Mr. Stein has experience in all aspects of patent, trademark and trade dress litigation, including choice of forum, pleadings and discovery, Markman hearings, trial preparation and settlement. Mr. Stein has experience in cases and matters before various United States District Courts, the International Trade Commission and the United States Court of Federal Claims. Mr. Stein has experience in a wide range of technologies, including optical fiber, printers, surgical appliances, propulsion, antenna systems, liquid crystal displays, encryption, wireless communication, weapons, and night-vision systems.

Mr. Stein holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (1997) and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Old Dominion University (1981).

Mr. Stein holds a Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University School of Law (1993) and is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (since 1991). Prior to attending law school Mr. Stein worked as an electronic warfare systems engineer at E-Systems (now Raytheon).
